Got a 355 V8 in my 79 Vette. Stock rebuild with Hypereutectic pistons. Just looking for some suggestions on a good head/intake combo to give me decent power and performance.

Vortec Heads, and a Vortec intake manifold.

Just a suggestion - you really ought to consider a different camshaft to make it all worthwhile.

What comp. are you looking to go with??? I like around 9.8 to 10.2 compression.

I was planning on going in the 10's for compression. I was also planning on doing a cam upgrade as well. Right now It has a Edelbrock performer series cam but after looking into those Vortec Bow-Tie heads and intake I think there really good bang for the buck and some really good performance as well but if I really want the performance I might as well put in a better cam since I'll have half the engine torn apart anyways. Plus I dont think I'd get too much more power out of it without uping the cam. Any suggestions of a cam that may run well with those Vortec Heads and Intake. I'm kinda hopeing to get this thing up close to 400 hp if possible.
let me know what you think.

Major determinant of compression ratio will be pistons' dome volume ... was it rebuilt w/ dished (L48) ? or with flattops (L82)? If flattop, you'll easily get to 10:1 w/ common 64cc chambers ... but 10:1 remote w/ dish & 64cc.

Suggest you verify which pistons are in it AND, if block was decked, how much? ... both crucial to compression ratio ... & planning.
