How much would it cost to rebuild a rochester quadrajet for a big block? Any help would be appriecated as i have found a carburetor and need to know what to expect on a rebuild.
A decent rebuild will cost you about $70 bucks or so.... $35 for the rebuild parts and $30 or so for a good book to tell you how to do it. I wouldn't trust anyone but Lars or myself for an accurate rebuild, so if he weren't available I'd do it myself. Of course, the "knowledge" isn't there--that's the reason for the book. Buying new or having yours rebuilt by someone else [not Lars] is a cr@pshoot. Do yourself a favor and learn about the Q-jet yourself. They really aren't that difficult.

Miles - you gotta' let me know your source... at wholesale pricing for good quality stuff, I was ending up with nearly $100 in parts in every carb, and the bucket of cleaner runs me about $150...
Henry out at Ole's Carbs does a very nice job on the Q-Jets, as does Cliff.

I have not seen anyone mention rebushing the primary throttle shaft as part of a rebuild. Not particularly difficult, but you need the bushings and the proper drill bit to do it.

There is a local shop in the small town I live that does a great job with quadrajets and will take it off, rebuild it and reinstall and tune to the car. My car runs great. It cost me $200. He is well known in my area for his talent with Quadrajets. I have also done my own for the cost of the rebuild kit. The last one I did, I had trouble finding a good cleaner, the good stuff has been taken off the market. Good luck!

I just went into O'Rileys and asked for a quadrajet rebuild kit for a 74, and they pulled it out, mine has ran like a champ since the rebuild
