exploded factory side exhaust
does anyone have an exploded veiw of the factory side pipes. looking to do some mods to make a larger diameter inlet from 1.7/8 to 2.1/2 or somthing close. internal view would help to see if it will work... tanks..

Why don't you call Allen's Stainless Exhaust. Since they're building reproductions they should be able to tell you what's going on in there and what your possibilities might be.

PS: I've always heard that the side exhaust system was more restrictive than the under car system. So what ever is in there can't be good, but OH THAT SOUND!!!!

Just so happens I had a rattle in the drivers side pipe on my '70 (these pipes were supposedly dealed installed prior to delivery in 1970). I cut a window to inspect and you can seen the rusted inner pipe in the photos. I removed it and welded the case shut. Left side pipe is only slightly louder than rt side. ( I will be restoring the exhaust down the road and this was the easy/ cheap fix for the annoying rattle.)
