Just a thought this afternoon as I watch some snow come down and plan my winter projects. A couple of years ago I converted my 1967 (now sold) to DRLs. The kit basically allows for running the front park lamps on the bright (turn signal) filaments of the 1157 bulbs while driving. This is a safety feature as it enhances your visibility to oncoming drivers; particularly important on two-lane roads where people are prone to take risks when passing. The Corvette has a low profile and is not terribly visible to those risk-takers.
The DRLs are ignition-switched to be on when the car is running. Your can defeat this if you wish with a toggle switch under the dash. I did but never used that option. I am considering installed the system in my 1974 come spring. I have two colleagues with them in their C3s and believe me they are very effective.
When GM first introduced daytime running lights on their new cars I remember them advertising a kit to retro fit older cars like First gen Cameo's, GTO's and Corvette's. I wounder if the kit is still available.

This is perfect timing. I have been pondering the last few days about how to do this, but I was thinking of using the parking light filament, using a diode & a relay to isolate it from the back & turn on with the key. This might be easier.
I just added a third brake light, so this is a logical next step.
webelectricproducts is a great company too. L.T. stands being his work ive dealt with him several times for my mustang sequential tailights. great solid products!
Anyone know where I could connect the brown wire coming out of the back of the front turn signals so that my amber lights did this (DLT)? I've been pondering this and I just wired my sidemarkers to blink. Let me know if you want to do this. It is very quick, but you may need a solid state flasher module, but I can tell you where to get it. It will also allow you to use LEDs on all your lights. My Cibie headlights are supposed to have a parking light setting, so once I install them, you will see them on when I have my parking lights on (through the grill!) I also thought about putting red brake lights in with my reverse lights, but thought wiring them to turn off with the reverse lights would be too complex. Anyways, not trying to hijack, just having fun with wires...
I ordered a DRL module from Daniel Stern. I am making sure that they will be safe with my Luxeon LEDs. Apparently, the do get hot, but they dim slightly if left on bright for a long time. I was told that I will barely notice.
Everything is safe and ready to go. The DRL is an easy install and uses quick splices. I just had one question. What is a good wire to use that gets juice when the car is turned on? They recommend that it is fused for 15A. Windshield wipers? Any ideas? Is there one near the blinkers?
Commenting & reviving this old post because it's still relevant for C3 DRLs. I was searching for a DIY circuit forever and stumbled across this (THANK YOU, Duck Duck Go search engine!).
The DRL-1 mentioned in the first post is this link, and still appears to be available.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
