Default about to remove the motor

I hope to remove the motor from my 71 / 350 / 4 speed car this weekend.

This is a 1st for me on any car and just would like a little advance info.

I am removing the motor only and not the bell hsg. or trans.

All is out of the way and ready to go.

Once I remove the bell hsg / block bolts and remove the motor mount bolts, I assume the next move is to rock the motor enough to get the clutch assy slide off the input shaft?

Lift a small amount and pull forward to clear the shaft and then simply raise to clear the front of car?

Is ther any thing I am overlooking?

Thanks
David

Raise the engine to clear the engine mounts and place a support under the tranny. Pull straight forward until the input shaft disengages, and then lift it out.

Hi David,
You can do this with no problem!!! Be careful, as I know you always are. Protect the fenders well, better safe than sorry.
You'll be really surprised and pleased how easy the engine and compartment are to work on once you have the engine out.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Their may be a ground wire on the engine mount going to the frame. Lift slowly and check.

A big thanks to all of you for the help.

Hey Alan, making pretty good progress. Still shooting for 3rd. week of Jan.

For the last 2 weekends I have been taking the A Arms / Spindles and Power Steering pieces off to soak / clean / paint.

I took the A Arms to te powder coater today. The prices are all over the place. But I found a company called RACE TECH that is doing all 4 for $80.00

I have more STUFF with notes taped to them laying around the basement than Carters has pills.

If someone steels these notes the I am in big trouble when re assembly time comes around.

Once again thanks to each of you...

Lars , really good to hear from you and hope you are well sir.

Alan, Like the Pink Floyd song says "Wish you were here"

Hugie82 , there is a ground wire , thanks for the heads up.

Happy Thanksgiving to all , and to all a good night.

That was kinda a mix of Thanksgving and Christmas.
