Default engine question

how can i make an engine that looks like this

look like this

What i really want to know is if i need the things attatched to the air filter. I think my engine would look cleaner without all the plastic parts.
any info would be appreciated. thank you

Take a look at how others have dressed up their engine compartments. There are countless pics on this site.
Keep in mind that anything you remove has a purpose. For example that hose to the Air cleaner brings air up from a certain point. Now with out it the carb probaply wont get heated air to it when it might need it in the winter. On the other hand it will most likely still perform fine.
Just understand what your changing and how it's going to effect the car when you change it.
