"Totalled" '82 CE
Help, My insurance company just "Totalled" my CE as a result of a recent accident. I don't have the numbers yet, but want to find out my recourse if I don't agree with their adjusters evaluation. I have saved receipt's of parts and work I have done on it for the last 18 months. It was nearing "new" like condition. Any experiences ou there?

Hope you had an "agreed value" with your insurance company. If not, they'll offer you the standard "book" value which will be much less than the car is really worth. Either way, their first numbers are an offer. They"ll try to lowball, don't give up too easily. Their job is to get out of it as cheaply as possible.

Mark, this is where your situation is made much more difficult because the police did not ticket the other driver. You should be able to go after him and his insurance company because he was at fault, but that will be difficult if he is not issued a citation. As mentioned above, if you don't have agreed value insurance you will be at a severe disadvantage with your insurance company. It is a negotiation, but a difficult one, Good luck. MJ

Oh! and just in case your intrested in another one, there is a nice looking low milage(44,000) CE at the Phoenix Corvette dealer...Take a look

I would ask my insurance company about getting his insurance to pay for it.Once your insurance co has paid it will be harder getting his ins co to pay.You probably will have to file a court action against him and have fault decided.I would be doing this before having my ins pay it.

I'm going in to the insurance company armed with all my reciepts from the 18 month's since I've owned it. I've got many new and NOS parts on that car. That's gotta count for something. The insurance companies have ordered the accident report and will be determining liability, since right now it's a "HE said. She said" situation. The police where not very much help. One of the things that makes me sick is that this summer, I put a Griffin radiator and Evan's pump and coolant in the car. This combination is the cure for a hot running C3, or big block C2 for that matter. The darn'd thing, after the upgrade would run no hotter than the thermostat temperature. Down yonder here in Texas iy made a great difference. But, now they are toast. :mad :(
