Default fuseable link on my 69

What gauge is the fuseable link located at the stater solenoid?
I think it's 14 gauge but not positive.
thanks

It's 14 brown and then back to 12 red at the starter.

Most auto parts stores carry fusible links in their electrical section and the one you need will be labeled "GM" and it is 14 gauge. The fusible link is always a little smaller than the wire they protect. The GM link will have a terminal on one end big enough to fit on the post of your starter where the positive battey cable is attached.

OK about this fuseable link, is it a fuze on a wire going to the starter and where is it located? Pics would be very helpful if nyone has available.

Well, yes...it's a fuse...of sorts. The intent of the design is the same as a plug-in type of fuse--when current reaches a higher level than the design of the wiring system, the 'fuse' burns and breaks the circuit. In this case, the smaller wire melts. These are only used in circuits where overcurrents are NOT expected...unless a major component fails and causes a dead short. You can replace the whole fuse link so that it still looks 'original', or you can just splice in a new section of 14-gauge wire to replace what burned through.
