Default engine wire harness

I pulled the engine on my 72 coupe, a couple of the wires around the starter are fried. I'm considering a new harness, how hard is it to remove and install at the fuse block?

Those wires that fried are probably the fusible links. You can replace just those, which are there to protect the rest of the harness.

at the fuse block unscrew the 7/16 Nut/Stud and pull it off. easy.
But I would recommennd properly repairing your current harness,
if it is in decent shape.

Thanks, I'll just solder in new wire where required, I was somewhat scared by the sellers of the wire harness who said the life of the original wires were ten years.

Hi B777,
It sounds like a repair is a good idea.
I think the reason the harness people said what they did is that the engine harness 'lives' in a tough place because of the engine heat and gas/oil atmosphere.
If you decide to change it someday it's not too big a job at all.
Regards,
Alan

I would get a new harness. Get a 'Lectric Limited from Last Detail. It will be easier to install with engine out. Harness is almost 40 years old with all that engine heat, cold, salt, rain, etc. Engine harness 1/2 is not that expensive. Really both are not bad moneywise, but the light harness is more and harder to install if you keep the fiberoptics. You can repair it, but with the engine out I'd replace it.
