here a 2 pictures of the plug I was talking about if it comes unplugged the gen light and other light will be on but when you turn the key everything goes out and nothing happens. It is the plug closest to the dist. I hope this is it for you it took me several hrs trying to find out what was wrong I checked starter, wires, fuses, fuse able link, ing switch and battery. I was tracing wire and found it.
Thanks VictoriaVette,
I printed the pics and will check in the morning and report back. This afternoon after I put the starter back in I tried some of the other ideas from this thread. I turned the key to the start position and pulled the steering column up and pushed in... no luck. Then in semi-frustration I held the key in the start position and began slowly wiggling the shifter from Park to rev to neutral to drive 2 1 and back. Well... all I got was a faint buzzing and then some smoke from the engine compartment firewall area! I'm not sure what happened but it don't think it was good. FYI My car seems to be relatively original with 90k miles so I don't suspect Bubba.
I would appreciate any other forum member's ideas before I give up on this and take it to the vette shop... I hate to do that. I had more fun rebuilding the e-brakes on my 71. LOL
VictiriaVette,
I located the connectors in your pics. I opened them up and found them in great shape but cleaned them anyway. No luck on starting.. Thanks for the ideas. I guess it's time to take it to the shop.
Update on my car. I took it to the shop. It turned out to be the starter $100, neutral switch $130 and fuse able link $10. I would have never figured it out.
Thanks for all the ideas.
