Default 1974 Tach

I have a 74 Vette that I have modified with Mallory Unilite Distributor and MSD ignition. I have heard that I can substitute a 1975 tach (electric tach) for my 1974 mechanical tach to solve my problem of no working tach. Is this a proper solution to solve my problem and does it work with my dash? Thanks, Rick

Yes that is the way to go. I have a 74 with a TPI 350 so I switched over to the electronic tach. Looks like it belongs there.

I had my 72 tach converted to electronic. Little pricey but it looks great and works much better.

I left my stock tach in place and just slapped in a small aftermarket tach. It fits absolutely perfect if you pull the air vent on the bottom left out (my car has no AC.. so it's just looks anyways). Look almost like it belongs there and cost all of 22 dollars.

Its a little crooked in this pic (before I put anything to keep it from rotating in it) but you get the idea:
