Default Which MSD box?

I'm giving up on my old HEI and going to get a new dizzy and box.

I have it narrowed down to these 2 because I want both the rev limit and boost retard functions.

This one uses pills, which Im not really thrilled about, but really, how often am I going to change it?

This one doesn't use pills, but you need a laptop to set it up, and it looks more versatile

Don't waste your money on MSd, i have seen more failed boxes than you can shake a stick at. I had a Crane digital 6 in my camaro for 10 years trouble free. great equipment. Crane is looking to be back in business in 30 days. call summit and buy a real ignition. Just my 2 cents.

Beat me to it...all you'll ever need, best rev limit I've tried and you're not saddled with MSDs overpriced over-rated distributors

I considered Crane, but yea, the whole being-out-of- business thing sort of made me wary of that route.

I'll still need a dizzy if I go that route. Suggestions?

I like Mallory stuff. Here's what I have now. I would have prefered the Unilite pick up but couldn't get all the stuff I wanted in one package...I refuse to give up my cable driven tach

P.S. these can be had on ebay for a couple bucks cheaper..

I have the MSD Dist with tach drive, MSD 6ALN box, an MSD programable digital window switch (haven't used it yet) and MSD wires. I am very happy with my distributor and 6ALN box. The 6ALN is the Nascar version of the 6AL. It is filled with a gel like silicone. Protects it from moisture and vibration. The digital window switch will retard your timing at a programed RPM, Im using mine for nitrous. Used the distributor and box for 5 years with no issues. Going back in with the new motor. Noticable improvement from my points distributor. Used their products for over 15 years and never had a problem. Just my experience. The Crane box above would meet your needs and looks like a good product but you still need a distributor.

I agree with the Crane box. I have run one for years with no problems at all. It is digital and has rotary dials for the rev limiter. I ran it with a MSD dist.
