Default Need advice FAST!!!!!

Hello Everyone;

I need a fast answer as to how far you can drive after blowing power steering hose..
I'm not worried about how hard the car is to steer, but how far you can drive with NO steering fluid? Will the pump burn up?

Thanks for a fast answer..

Cut or remove belt. Pump will not turn. I drove mine that way for about 100 miles.

Yes, if you drive it with all the fluid leaked out, it will burn up the pump in short order. I wouldn't neccaccarily cut bthe belt, just remove it, you will not damage anything, exept maybe by hitting a tree on the way home, "cuz it's so hard to steer!

Mine had broke the belt and I drove it without power steering for about 100 miles or less and had wondered if I could have damaged anything by doing so. I guess I'll be ok then.

Driving a non-functioning power-steering equipped car is a lot harder than driving a non-power steering car.

The steering ratio is much different from PS to non PS so yes it will be tougher but can be done.

Yes sometimes the obvious is often overlooked. Just knock the belt off. You live not far from me at all.
I doubt you will be driving at all today! Nice weather huh!

On really cold days, I guess my PS steering fluid will be frozen for 10 seconds or so. Man, is it difficult!

It's funny!!
I found that it's not hard at all to steer on snow and ice without power steering....the regular pavement is another story.....

Thanks for your advice. As soon as the weather warms a little new hoses will be installed.
