Really nice job, I am always thinking of doing the same for my stock 1980. I like the color of the car and the white top, I never see that combination at all. Keep us posted !
I have had a number of blue and white cars (as well as white and blue cars!). Still not sure if I will stick with Bridgehampton Blue or go to C6 LMB. We'll see.
You are making good progress. I cant wait to work on your car.
At some point your car and Joes' car should get together for a photo shoot.
They will be a very impressive sight together.
He has been watching your thread, and you know what's up with his car.
I feel so fortunate to have involvement in these BAD *** projects
Talk to you soon.
Stan
Stan, I can't wait! Motor is running and hopefully we can get it in the car by mid-April. Just got tilt/tele wheel back from paint shop so should get interior in within next couple of weeks. With motor, tranny and interior installed, we should have the car riding at operating height so you can begin your magic. Will end up taking the car to BG in May in some state of paint prep but will be its first outing.
Wow! What a great buildup. Have a similar coupe with auto. Can't wait to see the dyno tests on the cam comparisons! That is one beautiful car! Great detail.
What a great thread! Lots a pics and info, thanks for taking the time to show. Oh one question where did you get the 555 emblems? thanks Dave.

Looking at your profile...that's a serious bad boy you have there too! Any more details you can give us about your 773 HP dyno test? Do any cam degree playing etc? Been to track with it?

We now are a few parts away from being able to put our motor together without scavenged parts from Jim's car. Pretty exciting. Then scheduling dyno time here in Houston, bringing the whole shebang down and picking out the right combo. Jim has been an absolute hero traveling as much as he does and still having time to push the process along. Didn't help at all that Crane went out of business right as we were getting springs but Jim things he has a workaround....something with paperclips and baling wire.
I am hoping to get the motor in the car by 3rd week of April, getting everything hooked up by first week in May, then flares and some basic body work enough to hold the car together for the trip (by trailer probably) to BG for the Cruisein. Every day is critical now. 54 days left before we leave for BG.
Got tilt/tele wheel back and intend to install it this week, then finish off Hot Rod Air setup and reinstall the dash. Oh and paint the calipers...did I mention that I HATE doing that?
Whow thats a huge list of upgrades.
See you kept the Steel leaf spring. Any reason for that?
Haven't seen any one with the new Shark-Bite coilover system yet!
Wink
Keep pics comming!!
Awesome job!!! I feel a bit embarrased to ask about such a minor detail, but are you using the stock "6 bolts for the rear leaf spring, or those are "8 bolts? :o

I actually had put the SharkBite rear on this car and liked it but sold it to a friend. With the kind of serious power I am going to be putting down, I didn't want to be driving around on an experiment. Not knocking the Speed Direct guys...they are great. I just needed a much more stout rear end.
Just compare the look of this with the look of the photos already posted and you'll see that I upgraded EVERYTHING.
I can't recommend the Speed Direct guys enough. I have their Steeroids steering up front as well as their coil overs for the front. Steeroids bolted right in. Was amazing and a nice finished product. Haven't hooked up the PS part of it yet but have no reason not to expect that to go well.

Those are 8's. Remains to be seen if they will let the car down enough but won't know until I get motor in, interior back in, some gas in the tank and a couple of fat guys drive it around. It will settle some. May take the top leaf off the spring set before I am done. Could take longer bolts and cut them but going to start with 8's.
Snowman,
It was a good plan to put the beefed up rear end because I've seen Corvettes on youtube at the drags and they had way to much power and the rear end explodes. With the amount of HP your putting in you could easily have the same thing happen an it is an ugly thing to see because of the extensive damage done to some beautiful cars. Sh*t tears up allot more than just the rear end. I've blown up two 3rd members with some of my old hot rods although I've never had one with RE parts flying all over the place. A Chevell/Malibu i had completely imploded with just 350HP.
