Dash lights help pleeeaase
can someone point me in the right direction.
PS. my tach doesn't work either if someone might can help me there to.
to save making another thread.
Its a bit of a pain but look up and see if anything is spliced into the harness coming from the headlight switch.
Best way to know if its the switch is to remove it and look it over. There is not much in the switch. Just a couple of contacts. It can be disassembled. Retrostat that controls the dimming function is on the front...it goes...if the arm is grounding out it will blow the fuse.
There are two parts to the switch but to figure out which is bad I need you to be specific. Buy a bunch of fuses. Trial and error. Start the car with no headlights on...does it blow. If not move one...turn the know left and right...thats if you have the dimmer function...does it blow? If not pull the switch to turn the headlights on...does it blow? ETC ETC...
I don't think a switch problem will effect the tach. But if the circuit board that feeds the dash lights and tach has a break in it it will cause the fuse to blow. So does the tach work at all before the fuse blows? If it does its probably the board or the electical plug to the board.
