A while back a vendor was selling leather wraps for steering wheels. They had holes pre punched and reinforced with plastic grommets. You had to provide the wheel diameter, length wanted and wheel thickness. You then stiched the wrap on your wheel with a baseball stitch.
Anyone know where I saw this? I tried the search function and got what seems to be every post on the forum for the last umpteen years, most were not even related to the steering wheel.
thanks. I also posted this is wanted to buy section.
I had mine done recently by a person I found here on the forum. His name is Chuck Pelton. He restored the wheel on my 82. The quality of work that Chuck does is very high. If you need info on Chuck let me know.

I also put a Chuck Pelton wheel in my 70. I had a core wheel from an 80 and had Chuck customize for me. He brushed the spokes and put a black cover on the wheel. I love it.
That's it! Thanks. I bought a new leather wrapped steering wheel with brushed aluminum spokes for $99 and now I want to add some color so I'm looking for a wrap for the top 60* between spokes. The new wheel is smaller in diameter and works well with my Tilt/tele column.
Why don't you just spray the leather with leather dye or vinyl dye? (I wouldn't use vinyl dye on leather seats, but I have done it on a leather wheel...works just fine.)
[QUOTE=paul 74;1569212110]This is a Chuck Pelton, leather-wrapped wheel for my 1974.
Paul, was that the original skinny plastic wheel? It looks like it by the finger grip mounds on the back. I'm not sure when they started putting a more comfortable wheel in the corvettes.
