Default 1974 Master Cylinder

The pedal on my 1974 goes right to the floor, even when pumped it doesn't get any better. I can get a new one but if it's got original numbers I'd rather rebuild it.
Does any one know the proper numbers for a 1974 master cylinder, with power booster?
Is it a big/difficult job to rebuild it?
Thanx

Hi TM,
Early 74 w/pb #5460346 w/ bleeders
Late 74 w/pb #5460346 w/o bleeders
New master cylinders with proper numbers are being reproduced.
Have you checked for other leaks?
Regards,
Alan

If you decide to replace yours, you can get a correct one here:
http://www.cssbinc.com/mastercylinders.aspx You can even have it date coded. I bought one for my '69 last year because in the old days nobody thought of saving an original part, so when when the original MC failed, a replacement was the natural thing to do. I am very pleased with the new MC from these people. Note - I have no interest in the company, just a satisfied customer.
Cheers,
Pete

No other leaks, fluid level is right up. calipers and lines all dry. Brake system has been redone from front to back, except for the master cylinder, new lines, hoses, rebuilt calipoers.

I have had the same symptoms, i.e., pedal to the floor, no amount of pumping brings it up, and no leaks. Changing the MC fixed it. I have not rebuilt a Corvette MC, but I have rebuilt others. It is not hard, the main concern is corrosion in the bore. If you can't hone it out and get a good seal with the piston seals, I would say sleeve it if an original piece, or replace it as I posted above.

Cheers,
Pete

Thanx for all the info...I am going to replace it with an aftermarket Master cylinder from NAPA, and will eventually rebuild the original when time permits. The shows I enter are not about originallity like NCRS, but show & shines and peoples choice. Thanx again....hope cruzin'
