I have aproblem on my "81" with the passenger side window. I have it adjusted so when you close the door every thing line up and shuts correct. With it closed the window will barely roll down ( unit has electric windows ), and then when you raise the window it won't go all the way up and wants to tilt the glass to the inside of the weatherstrip. It acts like the bottom of the run needs to come in closer to the inside panel. As near as I can tell the bottom of the run adjust only back and forth. Worked on it 2 hrs. last night and went to the house fustrated. Any ideas to fix would be greatly appretiated.
I had the same problem with my 80 model. The window needed to be shifted to the rear by 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch but I could not get that much in aft movement. It was so bad that that the window would flex when you close the door. So what I did was remove the forward front to back adjustment strap and place the rail bolt in the aft hole. I redrilled a hole in the center metal tab and used the bolt there. You have to loosen the aft bolts and run the window up and down to make sure it is not binding in the tracks. Mine works fine now and I did not reinstall the strap. Hope this helps.
Try adjusting it while inside the car. Remove the door panel. Have your tools ready. Close the door.Get in the car and loosen off the bolts the hold the tracks to the door frame. Power the window up while everything is loose...no resistance. Then tighten the bolts.
If its moving it back that necessary keep in mind that there are two bolts at the bottom of the track as well. They should buy you an 1/8 or 1/4 inch as well.
