We are reassembling a 1970 454 vert and have a 12" ground cable and cannot remember where it goes. A diagram would be helpful, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi 4H,
I believe it runs from the starter brace bolt on the side of the block to a bolt in the rear flange of the frame mount for the engine mount. Bolt and star washer at starter brace, and bolt, star washer and nut at the engine mount.
AIM UPC12 Sheet A11.

Alan
Would my 68 vert have the same places for that ground cable?
Probably. Exact location is not very important. The object is to get a good hugh current ground from the engine block to the frame. Just keep it as far away from the headers as possible and don't interfere with anything else.
Hi Howard,
The AIM is the ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL, it's engineering drawings that show how the car was assembled in St Louis. It's 417 pages for 71. There is one for each year.
It and the GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL for each year are priceless to anyone working on a 30+ year old car. Most vendors sell them as does the NCRS Store.
I used the AIM so much during my restoration that I'm on my third copy.
Regards,
Alan
