How could it be that low using those heads? Dished pistons? If your estimate of compression ratio is accurate, the thickness of the gasket will make very little difference.

The felpro 1094 .015" thick Head gasket would raise your compression to around 10:1. Read instructions carefully before trying it, You "Must" have a very flat Deck. You can find the Flatness specs for the Gasket to be used at felpro online.

good advice with the shim gasket, check your deck clearance or how far "in the hole" the piston is at tdc.....you want at least .035 including the gasket or at least .020 at the deck for rod stretch...it would wake the mill up quite a bit with .075-1.00 more compression and a lot better squish area so you could run more total timing depending on how the dizzy curve is set up.......

I used those gaskets on my racecar. with one engine the seal was really good, no troubles at all. The other engine always had a very slight seep (and I mean very slight). Both of the blocks just had the heads removed old gasket material scraped off buffed with a scotchbrite wheel and then reassembled with the thin gaskets.
I think its worth a try, just make sure you follow the assembly instructions and don't try to seal it up "better" with silicone or rtv. If the gasket your replacing is around .040" thick, you should expect about a .5 point increase in compression

I would check if you have aluminum heads I'm not sure you can use the .015 gasket. You will need a composite gasket made for aluminum heads. The thinnest one I could find was a .026.
