Default Headers for 78

Im sure this question has been asked a lot, i wanted to know what headers i should buy for my L-48 small block. Which brands to look for, and if there is any difference in the brand names.

I have a set of Flowtech cermamic caoted headerson my 77 with an L-48. They are inexpensive, and work great. I've got them thru JC Whitney 2 years ago. For the price, they are great.

No idea of the actual increase in power. It feels like a totally different car though, enough of a difference you can really feel. That single exhaust and cat robs a lot of power. Even putting true duals on your car will make a difference, headers will just increase that difference. IF I had to guesstimate, I'd say 30 hp total.

I bought sanderson shorty headers, and am VERY happy with them. Good quality, VERY easy to install, nice sound, and yes, it's a totally different car now. I've been nothing but smiles and 10mpg all week.

The installation wasn't bad. I did need to take off the Z-bar though for the clutch. and the last head bolt on the left rear was a bitch to tighten.

I'm using Hedman Elites on my 79, an x-piple, true dual exhaust and Duraxmax Super Turbos mufflers. I'm very satisfied. These headers have a machine fit-type connection between the headers and exhause pipe that don't require a gaskeet. Good sound but can still hear my tunes !!!

Look at Summit Racing's headers. The Summit brand is on sale for $80, check the specs they are the same as the name brands on wall thickness and etc.
