The fit around the wheel arches is pretty snug, and holds the bottom edge well.
I used a couple of L shaped metal brackets secured in each top corner and one in top centre of panel.
It works well, and I think it looks clean and tidy.
Maintains good accessible space behind the seats and it doesn't interfere with the convertible top when tucked away either.

I built a speaker enclosure for the back of my 79 out of plywood with internal baffles to match the design of the speakers. I designed the enclosure to sit behind the wheel wells which holds it in place. I covered it with foam back headliner material, but matching carpet could also be used. I had to turn my bass down as I could feel the sounds waves on the back of my head. The enclosure cost me about $10 for the material to cover it and I used scrap 3/4" plywood. A lot of sound for a little money.
