i checked my timing for the first time today. it was set a 1 deg btdc at idle. i adjusted it like lars said to do and now it is a 12 at idle. i am having so much fun with it now. i never knew it was supposed to run like this. at the stop sign near my house i floored it and was in second before the tires caught :D :D (granted they are a little bald) the old record for me was a bout a 8 foot strip of rubber. i also found out that if i floor it while going 25-30 the back end will now loose traction. well its time to go rotate the tires and see if the front ones wont hold to the road a little better..... wheeeeeee....... im looking forward to going too the track in two weeks we will see if i cant break that 14.6 sec- 96mph 1/4 record that i have..... :yesnod: :yesnod:
Isn't amazing how much power can be found from a simple adjustment? :) Don't stop there though .... recurve the distributor for even better performance.
I know the feeling!!!! Be careful with that gas pedal........now that it runs right, you won't be accustom to the pedal response :D :D :D Rear end went out from under me 3 times today...Duh

Glad to hear the info came in useful for you! Your situation is actually very typical of most of the Vettes out there: timing and tuning on these cars is generally pretty far off, and a few simply tweaks and adjustments really makes 'em come alive. Improper timing and slow advance curve is probably the most common poor performance issue out there. Good job getting it set up!
Like Vetterodder says, your next step should be to check the actual centrifugal advance curve to get it to come in a little quicker and set up its total length. Through a little custom tailoring, you can get even more response and power out of your engine. Have fun!!
