I have a Nov(early) '68 built '69 and it has a very ratty leather shift boot.
Looking at some vendor websites, I am wondering if mine should have the rubber one instead of the leather

Jim,
I have an early '69 (Oct '68) and it has 2 boots.
The rubber boot(lower) is attached to the floor pan and the leather boot(upper) is attached to the console plate.
Hi Jim,
I believe all 68s and 69s used a rubber shift boot. The 68 had 1 fold for the 'bellows' and the 69 had 2 folds for the 'bellows'. It was called out as the 'upper' boot. All cars also had the 'lower' boot that screwed to the transmission tunnel.
I believe the leather 'upper' boot started for model year 70.
Regards,
Alan
