GUAGE TESTs

I bought a 77 L-82 with the interior pretty much stripped, is there any way to test the guages prior to re-installing everything? Any insight or advice would be much appreciated...

In the past when checking guages I would ground the wire going to the sender . turn key on the needle should max. On the bench power up pos. term. ground neg.
