It depends on what engine option you have. If you have a 'base' 350 engine, an Edelbrock Quadra-jet carb will fit fine; it has the small primary/large secondary throttle plates like the original carb. If you have an LT-1 or optional BB engine, they came with Holley carbs from the factory. The intake openings in the manifold should tell you which type carb to get.
Hi W,
Holley makes a spread bore carb that's a direct fit. It's a single feed, double pump, with mech. or vac. secondaries. Some people aren't crazy about it, but I've really liked it over the years.
I think it makes the engine look more serious than it actually is.
Regards,
Alan

I dumped the lazy Q-Jet on my 68 427/390 and went with this carb (mechanical secondaries) It really woke the car up. Great carb once I cleaned out the metal shavings
I too use a Holley spreadbore. I keep the q-jet outside on the ground next to the corner of the shop just to pee on when me and my buddies are drinking beer.

Metal shavings in your carb, yet another Holley exclusive!
Don't disagree with the Q-Jet malfunctioning so I dumped it rather than fix it. I have had enough of them over the years not to like them when they work. I don't like any REBUILT carbs. To me the single biggest improvement you can make is bolting on a new carb.

The Quadrajet is the most advanced carburetor ever made. It is the only carb that can be tuned for ideal efficiency throughout the RPM range AND still give ultimate wide open throttle (WOT) performance. What's not to like about that? Is it better to have a carb that wastes fuel, or under-performs for the sake of "just bolt it on"?

Unless the rebuilder did not know what he was doing, a rebuilt carb IS a new carb.

Any carb can be set up to give ultimate WOT performance. With the fact that a new cheap junk aftermarket carb will cost more than rebuilding, isn't this throwing money away that could be used to actually gain something.

Sorry, I have been rebuilding carbs for over thirty years and have yet to find metal shavings in one. I have, however heard several similar horror stories about things people have found with their new (last ten years) Holley products.

God bless, Sensei
Demon carbs are actually quite famous for coming full of shavings, although I think they have gotten better lately.
