Anyone here used one of those "one wire" alternators? I have one for my 68 and would like to know exactly which "one wire" to connect to the alternator.
However, to answer your question, run a new 10ga wire from the alt output to the hot all the time post at the horn relay. Be prepared to fight with battery charging. The one wire thing dosen't really sense the battery properly so it'll have a hard time keeping up with different loads on the electrical system.
I have a 1-wire 100-amp alternator and have had no problems with it. I simply connected the existing red "Batt" wire from the old alternator to the new alternator. While it is grounded through the case/engine, I also connected the existing black ground wire to the case. Hey, it was right there and couldn't hurt. I clipped of the plug for the field and lights and tucked those two wires back into the loom.
