Was the orginal 69 Stingray script, chrome only ?
or was it black on the sides, and chrome on the top surface only ?
any one have pics of orginal Chrome script ?
thanks, 69VETT
looks like all Chrome to me,
I have some new ones and they are black with the top Chrome only...
they must be Repo's, they have double sticky tape on them.

Double sticky tape is factory standard, at least AIM says "Remove paper backing"....
"Original script attaches with adhesive and three long-positioning studs without nuts. Original script will have black paint only on the raised portion closest to the body panels. One service replacement script had a groove cut into the base below the dot in the letter in Stingray.
On original emblems the dot of the i is a perfect circle completely separated from the letter's base. Reproductions and service replacements have a groove between the two parts. Some service replacement emblems have a heavy black plastic adhesive base which hold the script away from the car body like a gasket."
Man this forum is a better resource than GM ever was !
"black paint only on the raised portion closest to the body panels"
Mine appears to be painted black on all off the side, instead of only the raised portion near the body, might have to hit the buffing wheel with them ?
Hi 69,
From your picture I'd say your script looks good.
The black part is almost like a 'base' for the chrome script to sit on. The black surface has 2 sides and the chrome surface has 2 sides.
I wouldn't buff the black off.

Alan
