Default Seat Belt Warning Light

I have done something to my 70 and now the seat belt warning light stays on all the time now. I am trying to figure out how it works.

1. Is this a latching relay that resets everytime the car is turned off?
2. Or, does this relay latch in when you push the button on the dash?

I am guessing the second is the way the relay works but for some reason the relay will not seal in now. I have continuity through the relay, around .5 ohms, so it should work.

Any ideas welcome. I am going to go back and see what else I can figure out. I don't really want to pull the bulb but may have to if I cannot figure this one out.

I think it is the first one. Every time I start my car the light comes back on. Then you push the button and it goes off until the car is shut off and restarted.

Hi E,
I happen to have the gauge cluster apart.... AGAIN. So I could look in side the seat-belt warning light.
It looks like the relay is closed when it gets power so it turns the light on, and the button pushes the relay back open to shut the light off.
So I agree with 70D and your #1.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the replies. I did not get a chance to play with it tonight but will get back on it tomorrow night. Any suggetions on what I may need to check?

Like Alan said, I can push the button and the light goes off. If I take my finger off the button, the light comes right back on again...........

Relay may be bad.

Default Did you ever have any luck with the relay?

I am having the same problem, if it was the relay where did you purchase another one from to replace? I have recently refurbed the clock and had the whole bezel and guages out. I am sure all the movement caused this. I push the button the light goes out, I let go of the button the light comes back on. Thanks in advance for the reply.
