Default 69-71 frame

I just bought a 63 corvette and removed the body and found they had bolted it on a 69-71 chassis not sure what it might be worth. Im not used to that year thanks.

This is pretty interesting. The 69-71 frame is pretty much the same for the 63 model year with the exception of some strengthening in some areas such as the rear gussets in front of the rear wheels. The mounting points may be a little higher or lower near the rear kickup area. Are you planning on selling this frame? As for the worth of the frame it will cost more than later model C3 frames because of the year of the frame. Others will chime in about other differences if I'm wrong. I hope I helped.

What are you wanting to know? Should you keep it or what is a rolling 69-71 frame worth?

I'm not a C2 expert, so I'm curious about any body interference with the angled struts between the pinion crossmember and the rear frame kickups.

They removed the two braces that angle by i think the kickups. This was to accept the rear tub. I was going to use the frame origanally and just replace the rear 2ft. of frame and rear cross member. and I think two body mounts have to be moved. I just thought that by the time I buy the rear frame pc's and the welding, sandblast and paint. That I would be at about $2500 to $3000.00 and I could have bought a complete 63-64 rolling chassis for around $5000.00. Just trying to see what you guys thought. Thats why I wanted to see what my frame might be worth. the frame seems to be there eccept the two braces.

my early 70 has a 69 frame. the only difference that i noticed (thru non-expert eyes) is the lack of the diagonal braces that attach to the kick-up.

If it is nice except the rear, I would just fix it. A nice rolling 69-71 frame is $2500 with a broad umbrella. If you can fix what you have for less than the difference, then that is what I would do.

Not sure what your trying to do but if it aint broke dont fix it. Just get it blasted and painted and put the body back on. I just got done replacing 3/4's of my frame via a cowl back assembly from vetteproducts.net. Basically its everything from 2 inches behind the #2 body mount back for $2500 with me doing the cutting and welding. You can also get a slightly smaller section from just before the #3 mount and back for a little less. Both come with the sleeves to weld it back up to your old frame.

Hi SBP,
I think it really depends on what the car is, and what you would like it to be, as to whether or not a more originally configured frame is worth the effort and $$ at this point.
Unless the car is pretty well modified I'd think the proper frame increases it's value some $, to some people.
Regards,
Alan
