71 Stereo Replacement Advice
The questions keep on coming from the newbie... I hope I can offer some assistance someday instead of just asking for it.
Looking for stereo advice for my 71. I'm looking at the "looks original, operates digital" models and wondering if any one can vouch for these?
Also, want to put speakers in the back, but as unintrusive in the cargo area as possible. Anyone using the "Corvette Challenger Speakers" that claim to accomplish this?
And, if I want a CD changer as well, where's the best place to ultimately put it (and the amplifier I'll surely need for the additional speakers/player)? In one of the storage compartments or just in the cargo area off to a side?
All advice is appreciated to make Clapton's "Layla" really sing!

I installed car stereo for more years than I like to remember. I have not heard of a hideaway unit or factory look a like that sounded good enough for my ears. Some have neat features but sound quality isn't there for me, but that's me, maybe not you.
I would just replace the front bezel with a new one cut out for a din size radio. You can purchase a name brand radio for $150.00 to $200.00that will give you Ipod input CD changer controller, USB and maybe some blue tooth options. Add a amp and a sub. Use the amp in the radio for your 4 speakers. Speakers - two ways in dash or mids and tweeter in dash and 6 1/2 in kick panels with 6 1/2 full range in the rear and Layla will sound sweet. Keep everything you have incase you want to put it back to original.
If you really like a nice stereo, this will make you enjoy your ride!!
