I have the haynes book but it doesn't say anything about adjusting the clutch. Ok not sure on what to do. The rod that connects to the clutch pedal is hooked to a bracket. It has a nut that can be adjusted up or down. I adjusted the nut as close to the top as possible. I heard a clunk and the pedal sunk to the floor. I was going to try to start the car but not sure if it's the clutch not engaging or the starter is bad.

Nice Avatar! Here is a pic that I think will help you.
The clunk sound scares me. You adjusted the nut all the way to the top. I would re-check all the linkage before adjusting the clutch. Make sure something did not come loose.

Hi LZ,
Wilcox gave you the good info.
I'd only add and suggest that you buy the GM Chassis Service Manual for your 73. It's worth the $$.
I think you'll find it to be a lot more helpful as your work on your car.
