Default E Brake cover

Would someone give me some detailed instructions for reinstalling the e brake console cover? I can't seem to get the screws to line up.

Help.

The only thing the haynes repair manual said to do. Is to push the seat cushion down to gain access to the lower screws.

wish i can help more good luck

I use a small hobby screw driver to line up the holes. A piece of coat hanger would probably work as well. I wish I knew of an easier way to do it, because even lining up the holes the way I did it wasn't all that easy.

Default lining up holes

That's the problem I have. I can't seem to line the holes up to get the screws in. Maybe I should try it in the dark lol. Just kidding. Anyone else got a tip.

I pushed and I mean pushed the shifter console as far forward as I possibly could and tightened it down.
Then I got the e-brake console mounted, after screwing that in loosely I loosened the shifter console to allow everything to fix where it wanted to.

Your results may vary.

DZRick, I like your comment "your results may vary"

I'd have to agree that my results are terrible right now as I can't line these little suckers up.

I assume your shifter console is as far forward as it will go?

What position is your E-brake handle in? Also is the rear of the E-brake console lined up with the bolthole in the center rear compartment?

Are all these parts already installed at some time or are some new pieces?

Default Screws

DZRick,

Thanks for the ideas. Yes, the shifter console is as far forward as I can get it. I've had this cover off before but have never been able to get screws back in. However, I've never had that rear screw in either. So my next move is to install that one and see if the others get close.

Thanks All,

andy

I completed this chore on the weekend on my 69. I just ran a bolt backward and inserted it inthe hole into the center compartment. My nice new plastic sliding gizmo that fills the slot the e brake moves in is in nice new plastic pieces now though. Used all my patience up fitting thr whole thing togetherI guess.
Anyone know were I can get my hands on a "Whisker Type" gizmo for in there that won't need to slide ?
