Default Need tech help with wheel/tire

Here's what i have. i have a 1979 vette, ive got the front and rear dual mount mono spring and offset trailing arms. i want to get a tire wheel combo for the rear, that mounts about flush with the fender, like the 245 or 255 will in the front with stock backspace. i need a fatter wheel in the back to help with traction. i was thinking go 18's in the rear and 17's in the front. so all in all i need to know what backspace and what size tire to put. i dont want to cut my spring or notch my frame. ive tryed searching the gobs of other tire and wheel post but never came up with one that fit me. i would appreciate any help advice and pix. thanx guys.

A 18x9.5 with a 5" backspace and a 275/40 tire seems to work with no drama. There are plenty of cars running 18x10s with 5.5" backspace but that's when shortened springs may to come into play.
