need help with front pulleys on engine
it ran fine so i bought it and im putting it in my 1980 corvette.
come to find out after tearing into this engine and running the #s it came out of a 1986 corvette.
this engine has no fuel injection on it,i did not want it anyway for my car so it has an 1972 intake and a quadrajet up top.
engine was in a truck
so i took the long water pump off and replaced it with a short pump.
i found the altinator brackets inside the car so i put them on the engine.
found the water pump pulley inside the car to so im running that to
i have to buy power steering pump brackets but looks like that is going to work to.
***problem is the belts are not linning up right,i think i have to change my crank pulley because it is the one that was used on the truck so i beleave it is for a long pump am i right?
also how many grooves do i need on the crankshaft pulley 1,2,3 i dont know?
im only running an altinator, power steering pump.took ac off and smog pump.
im going to order a crankshaft pulley from willcox but dont know what one to order.
thanks for the help
In 71 an engine with just P/S had 3 belts, and pullies with 1 groove on the alternator, 2 grooves on the crankshaft and 3 grooves on the water pump.
The belts were:
Alternator to P/S
Crankshaft to water pump
P/S to Crankshaft to Waterpump
Hope this helps a bit!
Regards,
Alan
