how much of a PITA is it on 74 coupe 350 auto trans. Mine has been hacked by Bubba in just about every possible way. Also, any suggestions on where to buy
Thanks
Frank
Both the engine and the forward light harnesses are a cakewalk.
I got them from thepartsladi. Lectric Limited harness OEM stuff Fit is great and all factory looking- just new.
Is the starter run off the engine wiring harness? I've also got a '74 350 (also yellow!), and I have a short in the starter or starter solenoid wiring. I'd like to just replace the wires, but not sure how involved it is to do this.

Yes the starter is part of the engine harness but you can repair it .
What do you mean by SHORT ? Whats it doing or not doing ?
Turn the key, I hear a fan start to turn somewhere (it's quiet, so probably the cabin air fan), interior lights dim a little, silence from the engine bay other than the fan - that's what I get. Until recently, fiddling with the wires going into the starter solenoid caused it to fire right up. This last time, it took over an hour and a prayer to get it going, and I still don't know how it did it.

You could just have a loose connection at the starter. Also on your 74 you have the seatbelt interlock relay on the passenger side firewall that the purple starter wire run through. Moving the wires at the starter could be moving those as well.
I was scared of wiring, but mine was pretty hacked. I laid out the new harness next to the car in its general position. The installation was very straightforward. I cautiously turned the ignition key for the 1st time... She fired immeadiately and idled (purred) like never before. Go for it.
