Can anyone clue me in on the JEEP steering conversion,if anyone can explain the help would be wonderfull,as i think the current set up on my 81 sucks...
Check out the Borgeson Steering Box.Search the forum lots of great info.My conversion was close to 800.00 from Ecklers it's called the upgraded steering box.You need the box,rag joint or U joint, drag link adaptor and hoses to complete the change out.The box bolts up in the stock location and works with your existing pump.Steering feels great and no more leaking components.

You may have clearance issues with the Jeep box also then. Check out a rack & pinion system

rack & pinion if u have a budget
bolt in directly with your stock setup
I know that Borgeson has test fitted their box on a big block C2 with headers. There are of course lots of variations in headers, so fit is not guaranteed. The box has been fitted by "reworking" the headers (a little dent here, etc.). So it may be a challenge to fit the Borgeson box with your 496, but not impossible.
