Should there be underbody heat shields on a 72?, mine does not have them. I'm just getting mine on the road after hauling it home on a trailer 10 years ago, seems to be alot of things missing or changed. Luuckily most of it is minor.
I posted this on factory correct resto, but not much activity there, hope its OK to post here.
Hi Mike,
I believe your 72 had:
A foam collar wedged between the bell-housing and the transmission tunnel.
A foil covered underbody tunnel insulator.
2 'U' shaped dense foam shields on the frame rails just behind body mount bracket #2.
2 small dense foam triangles that wedge alongside the frame and body at the toe boards.
I believe that's it.... the interiors were still pretty hot, especially with BB engines.
Regards,
Alan
