Default Problem setting timing in my car.

Hi,

I have a problem with my INNOVA EQUUS 5568
The problem is that the "gun" dosent flash. Today I've tried 4 different timing lights, and I can't get any of the timing lights to flash, in my car.
What is my problem?

Car:
1969 SB 350/350 engine
MSD 8572 distributor, blaster 2 coil and 6AL
8,5mm silicone cables.

Default ?flash light off?

I have a INNOVA 3568 and it works great. Should the flash light function be off. I thought that was so you could use it as a flash light/trouble light.

The fact that 4 different timing lights yeilded the same results most likely means its not an issue with the timing light.

Try an old or plain jane plug plug wire on #1. your wires may be shielded too well for the inductive pickup to work correctly.

I'd certainly try other wires than #1 - if no light will flash on any wire...I don't know where else to look other than at the plug wires having some sort of mondo insulation :/

The pickup is inductive, and if the engine is running then we know there's spark in the wire. Have you tried the gun on another car?

I come back to maybe it's those 8.5mm wires...but that seems goofy :/

The "funny" part is, that the old Chain HEI that I had, I had no problem.
I could set my timing with no problems.
The problem began after I got MSD 8572, Coil 2 and 6AL in the car.

It is std. 8,5mm cables, and I had no problem with setting the timing before I had MSD.

I have to admit - I got nothing. I suspect a call to MSD is worth trying...

Sorry; I just don't know where else to turn here.
