New C3 owner, and new to this forum. Replacing 74 headlight switch. Manual says to lower steering column to remove instr. cluster, and refers back to steering section. Steering section only discusses steering column removal - not "lowering". Is this as simple as dropping the bracket at dash and the bracket at firewall, and slightly lowering the column and wheel towards the seat????
After you've wiggled around on your back in the foot well to be able to see up under the dash, you will see the steering column bolts. With the bolts out, the column will lower slightly -- enough to loosen the dash pad, get your hand behind it, and reach the light switch. You do not need to loosen the bracket on the firewall.
Been there, done that.

Hi M,
Be sure to mark the position of the 2 headlight vacuum hoses on the switch. It's easy to reverse them and not realize it until the dash is back together!
Good Luck!!
Regards,
Alan
PS: the little spring loaded 'button' on the switch body releases the **** and shaft.
