This may have been talked about before, but I couldn't find a thread on it. Freon leaks and I don't need the AC, can I just remove the compressor, cap the hoses and tuck them out of the way, or do I need to replace the compressor with an idler to keep belt?
Thanks
I'm doing the same thing for now; someday I may replace compressor. The acdelete looks great, but for $180 I could just fix the AC. Compressor is off and hoses are dangling . . . I'm interested to see who else has removed and how they delt with it.
If there is another accessory on the same belt with the A/C, you will need to get a shorter belt after removing the compressor. My advice would be to leave the A/C unit in place, but remove the fuse for the compressor clutch (or just disconnect the clutch power connector). The only disadvantage to leaving it in place is the extra weight. If you leave it in place and decide to sell it, it should sell better with all the A/C system in place (even if it is not charged).
