Having a charging problem, it's not the alternator i have rebuilt it and had it bench tested at a rebuilders and it's putting out good voltage and amperage.
After I replaced the initial alt, I had the choke light light up on the dash and the volt meter no longer reades any voltage, but at the battery I'm getting 10-11 volts output and 6-7 sometimes 0 under battery load..Anyone have this prob before?
I've still yet to check fuseable links etc... but a little experienced insight would be nice as I don't want to have the car down too long because it's getting close to that time of putting it away for hybrination and I would like to drive it as much as possible till then

On the two wire connector are you sure that the red wire is on post #2 (closest to the motor) and that the brown is on post #1 (closest to the fender)? PG.
Turn the key to "ON" engine "OFF". Is the Alternator light on? If the light is off; your alternator won't work. The power runs from the ignition switch, up to the alternator light , then to the small brown wire at the alternator. Your problem can be as simple as a burnt out bulb. Hope this helps.

In case you're still looking at this thread...I assume the alternator light you're referring to is one of the dash lights. Does my '74 has an alternator light? It's not coming on, and my battery isn't charging at all. I don't remember one in all the years the car ran great, but I also can't claim that I paid much attention to warning lights that came on as I cranked. Thanks.
