original 71 bbc rebuild thread.
O.K.!!!! Pictures... now we have a better idea what you're working on.
Getting a proper 71 front end on the car is going to be a bit of work and take a bit of money.
The 2 manuals I mentioned are sold by many of the larger vendors, Willcox, Zip, Paragon, etc. You'll find them priceless if you get serious with this car.
At least the rear suspension pictures reinforce the fact that it's a BB car.
FUN! FUN! FUN! Fasten your seat belt!
Regards,
Alan
PS: the rubber lines for the fuel filter in the pump to carb line is a no no. Gas fires always spoil your day.

also how can you tell its a big block by looking at the rearend pics?
picked up my gm posi additive today (20 bucks
) and 32 oz lucus 85-90 wt gear oil. how much fluid does the rearend hold? i'm going to suck out as much fluid as i can thru the fill hole. i'm assuming you fill the rearend up until it runs out of the fill plug.
good news, pulled the motor tonight because i could not get it to stop back firing thru the carb. (set timeing and replaced carb still back fired) and no power. the cam is shot and the heads have a ton of carbon build ujp on them. looks like the engine has never been opened up. a true virgin. lol i want to make as much power as i can while keeping the stock exhaust manifolds and intake (unless the intake is more of a restriction than the exhaust.
i can stroke it but i don't think i will be able to use it to make power if i retain the stock intake and exhaust. same way with porting the heads. looking at a solid flat tappit cam if it will pull enoiugh vaccum for my power brakes, i have a tilt front end with a high scoop so i have extra hood clearance. give me what you would run. also needs to be budget friendly. i will pull the motor down tomorrow and take some pics.
