I have a 71 Coupe with 40,000 original miles on it and noticed that the Automatic Transmission cooling lines are spliced with rubber hose up by the radiator.. Is it like this from the factory, or are they supposed to be a one piece hard line.. I know sometimes they are cut and spliced when an engine is changed..
If these are factory, are the high pressure lines available for sale?
Hard lines from the tranny to the front of the car. Rubber hoses with clamps from the hard lines to the radiator fittings. AIM shows the details and lists the original part numbers.
Almost all the aftermarket providers carry replacement hard lines. I would think with only 40K on your car, the hard lines would not need to be replaced. Hoese might be showing their age.

Hard lines connect at the tranny...flex/synthetic hoses from hard lines to cooler/radiator. Otherwise, vibration would flex them to "death" pretty quickly.
