Well I need to replace the heater control valve in my 69 with AC.
Any easy way goining about this? The valve is located in the passenger's fender well and seems this will be a PITA.

You'll make less of a mess if you drain the Rad.

Clamp off the heater hoses with vise grips. If you're not changing the hoses, it's quicker than draining/refilling the system.

Probably have to go at it from the top and it might make it easier to do some of it from undernieth. Clamping the hoses is a good idea.

you have jack it up, put it on jack stands and remove the passenger side splash shield to get to it, it is not very hard to get to from the bottom side, but if the hose are old it might be worth your time to go ahead and get new hoses and just cut the old ones off instead of trying to work them loose.

Since you have no side vents that are removable, your best access is from the bottom. Try using the Vise-grips to clamp-off the water hoses. If they break or crack, you'll know it's time to replace them...otherwise, just replace the valve and hook them back up.
P.S. Put a drain pan under your work area when you install the vise-grips. If the hose breaks, you'll need it.
