Default short block vendors?

Im looking at short blocks for a 383 build. Anybody have suggestions on vendors, either who to buy from or who to avoid?

Anybody done business with http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/default.asp

Ive got a big block crate engine from WorldProducts. Love it. Jegs has specials going on with their small block product line as well and there still maybe a rebate from World. Jegs has the buying power to get the engines for less.

Not sure what your looking to build or spend. But a complete engine dyno'd from someone is a bit more than a short block. But once you add up all the running around and other purchases it all adds up real quick. Do the math on a shortblock with all the stuff you want to add and it will cost as much if not more than most crate engines. Tons and Tons of vendors out there.

Also, get it from a big vendor with a good customer relations team or at least someone local that you can put your hands on if the engine doesn't live up.

GMPP makes the zz383 long block crate engine. http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...98772/10002/-1

World makes their own brand new castings. You can get these small blocks right up to 454 cubes internally balanced with lots of goodies. $$$ But it will do as advertised.

Had excellent dealings with theenginestore.com. They sell on EBay, but for best results call them and ask for Kent. They built my short block the way I wanted it, rather than what they advertised on the internet. Price was very reasonable.

I've been running that engine for about 4 years now.

Thanks. I should have mentioned that I am planning to reuse a number of items from my previous build (dual plane intake, dual carbs, MSD dist, water pump, etc.

Really only need the shortblock. Was planning to have my block reworked but its cracked and adding another 250-300 on top of 383 parts and machining has me looking at short blocks as a more cost effective or equivalent cost to building it up myself.
