The '68 AIM should show whether the install required plugs or not. Perhaps the '68 field problems showed that glue would not hold up...hence the plugs on following years?

Sorry for the delay. Crazy week. I just checked the AIM and nope - no plugs in the rear, just glue. But it does show what I thought. In '68 that rear carpet comes all the way up to the asto vent thingie. Keeping this height is important to me as I plan to put some speakers back there and the extra length will help do what I envision.

(still slogging through the rear suspension for now, sold my old 3.08 pumpkin to a guy in Norway this past week - shipping was fun to say the least)
I called and talked to either Tommy or Norm at Wilcox when I was doing my 70 LT-1 roadster and the rear carpet section came up about 1.5" too short. They said they couldn't remeber what the deal was but thought the roadster was shorter than the coupe. I was NEVER able to get a resolution back then (about 3 years ago.) Lucky for me, I found a decent interior guy when getting my soft top redone and a custom made rear carpet that almost matches my ACC kit was only $75 from him. My 1970 Auto Custom Carpet rear piece is still rolled up in my garage and the ACC kit for my 72 roadster may be wrong too! but, it's too many years down the road since ordering to get any warranty returns, thats why I LOVE old cars! YESIREE I LOVE EM!

I don't think anyone really "knows what the deal is". However, before I order rugs from anyobody, I'm trying to learn for myself "what the deal is" before I'm the next guy to have un unused piece in my garage too.
The AIM does not differentiate between coupe and roadster rugs back there that I can tell. But who's knows what that means?
All I know is that I want my new carpet to:
1. Go ALL the way up in the way-back like a '68.
2. Be fuzzy like 70-75
3. Have the dimmer pad like 69 and ? years did.
Cost me about what it would from Zip ie $260 less 10% = $234
