Default Another headlight problem

My 1978 C3 has a headlight problem. For a while the headlight pull switch did not open the headlight doors. The lights would turn on, but the doors wouldn't open. I would hear a sucking sound from behind the headlight switch, but it wasn't very loud. The service switch worked fine, so I just ignored the problem.

Suddenly, the headlight doors opened on their own and they won't go down at all. The service switch does nothing. Now, I hear that same sucking noise all the time and it's much louder with the headlight switch off. When the headlight switch is on, the sound is lower like it was before.

I replaced the service switch, but that didn't help. I can lower the headlight doors manually by pulling down the linkage under the car and then the service switch will raise them again, but then they are stuck up again.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.

Andrew

go find the sucking sound and fix that, its not supposed to make noise. The switch or one of the hoses has a leak
