I posted some closer pics of the stainless pipes in my photos.
I don't work for XS power...I always wanted side pipes on my Vette and they made it affordable. The bonus is they are stainless... I just like to pass along something good for my fellow Vetter's.

wow, I have to say I'm pretty darn impressed. They look pretty nice. I notice you had to trim your rocker molding a little but I think you have to do that with the hookers too. Keep us posted on when these are available, and how much.
BTW: Do you know what version of stainless steel they are? 304, 321, etc? Also, do they work with the hooker style baffles?

I don't work for XS-Power myself and I know this purely from inquiries I've made, but they are 321 stainless and are sold with mufflers/inserts (baffles) included. From what I've read, the inserts are tack welded in the pipes and that you would need to remove those welds to fit another type/brand of baffle.
how do they perform power wise, i have seen where some side pipes have killed power completely and i dont want a nice sounding car that runs like my civic.
I did have to trim them just a little to make them fit the rocker. If I was a little better with a saw, they could be half the size I made them. They are 321 stainless. He's right, they have a baffle tack welded in. They sound and perform great. Not too loud just riding around, but when you step on it they just roar. I have a ZZ454 and it's not lacking power, I'm not sure how they compare in performance with Hooker or such.
I plan on getting these myself when I can squirrel enough money away. I'm slowly getting there and hope to get some and install them for the spring. Hmmm, what can I sell....
Yes, standard 4" pipes. Sounds like the same welding jig as Hooker. Even comes with the dent near your stearing box. I did have to hammer two pipes just a little where they went under the frame. This was due to the solid motor mounts were a little taller that the rubber ones.
I do have some advise for anyone that has never had side pipes before.
They get HOT and will burn your leg!!!!!!
I purchased a roll or thermal barrier, kind of like 1/4" felt with shiney foil on one side.
I cut a section out, losened the sill plate and tucked one edge under it. I roll it up and tuck it between the door and seat. When you go to get out, just push it out over your pipes...now you can get out without burning your leg. It is the "big rule" of the summer with my kids and passangers that you have to use the pad, even if you think you can make it out without touching it. I remove it in the fall and winter.
As long as you have long pants on or are still stuck in the 80's with your knee high tube socks, you'll be fine.
Hi All,
Joe from XS-power just sent me an e-mail that they have some small block side pipes ready to go and they are just starting on the big block ones.
Check with Joe at @ xxspower@gmail.com
He will work a deal sometimes if you send him photos or videos with their pipes I believe.
Just tell him Allen with the orange vette sent ya'.
I was also looking for side pipes for my 69. I just couldn't drop 1700.00 on pipes at the time. I found a company called xs-power and they had a nice set of stainless for 1/2 of the price almost. I had to hammer a couple of places about 1/4" down...not too bad. Near the collector gets a little yellow tint to it after about 10 hrs or driving. I just get out my drill and a buffing wheel and buff it back to silver in a couple of minutes...no big deal. The only bad part is the first two pipes on the driver side are pretty close to the boots and wants to melt them I would recomend a jet hot coating or such just on those two pipes. It will be costly, like 350.00 or so. They bolted up to a ZZ454 with no problems.
Let me know if you want more info or want to hear how they sound.
Allen
I would be interested in hearing how these sound? Do you have a sound clip?
I have a clip on Youtube under 6D9dude. The guys from xs-power will give you some cash back if you give them a video or pictures to use.
What I liked best about these are 3 things....
Cost was 1/2 as much as chrome
Stainless
They weren't too loud.
I always wanted sidepipes, but some were so loud I almost decided not to put them on.
I got the set with baffles installed to make them as quiet as possible. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Thanks, that's a good sound, doesn't sound too loud if your just cruising. Are the baffles or inserts removeable? Do you know if it is glass pack type of quieting, or like a chambered exhaust?
I bought these over a year ago and am very pleased with them. I believe the inserts are reverse flows and I ended up removing them because they were too quite and looked to be really restrictive. They were tac welded in so the whole process took forever. I just saw today a set of these for sale in the for sale section right here for around $700. Here's some pictures of them on my car.
