Seat rails are the originals from the C3 seats centered on the new seats
with a one inch spacer on the front and no spacer in the rear. I centered
them on the new seat bottoms at the original spacing that the old C3 seats
were at so that they drop right in when bolting them into the car.
Hope this helps.

P.S. I'm told that the C6 seats fit just like the C5 but I thought that the C6
measured a little wider than the C5's did, if your considering those.

How did you attach the C3 rail to the C5 seat? Is there a way to nut and bolt them on.

If I remember right I think I bolted through the seat track into the
C5 seat bottoms, The bottoms I drilled and taped and used thread
lock for insurance, I believe you could just through bolt and nut.
When I took on the project I thought that It was going to be a pain
and take forever to do but it was not, It didn't take very long to do
and turned out pretty nice.

Hope this helps.

If you go the C-5 route you're going to really like them. I put a set in the 68 and they are extremely comfortable. I have power on the drivers side and manual on the passenger side and the power seat sits lower than the manual. I made my own mounts patterned after Glassman 74's design, just lower than his.

ive gotta do this this summer. i just want to make sure i understand how you did this.

the original seat tracks are unmodified and are bolted to the floor in their original position.

the rear of the seat is bolted directly to the seat track.

for the front, theres a 1 inch spacer that bolts to the top of the seat track, and then bolts into the seat.

is this correct?

i was planning on doing some drilling and welding, but i like the sounds of this.

Another user, yes it's that easy.
I drilled and taped the bottoms of the new seats and
kept the same original spacing between the tracks as the
C3 seats have, the C5 seats are just wide enough to to
this. The back of the track is bolted to the seat bottom and
the front is bolted through the seat track and one inch spacer
into the frame of the seat.

I have read some posts about how difficult it is to get C5 seats
bolted into a C3 and it made me wounder if I wanted to mess
with what I thought was going to be a hassle but it turned out
to be a quick and easy set up and I still have the ability to slide
the seats forward and back wards unlike some that I've seen installed.

Gruppy, It may take some time to find a good set of seats, It took me
weeks of looking on craigslist, ebay and the corvette forum and got
lucky after making a post about how I couldn't find a set, then all of a
sudden several sets in the C5 for sale section became available.

Good luck.
Hope this helps.

Why did this guy have to cut the floor up to get the seats to fit?

only thing i could think of is to get the electric motors in, and still have full travel on the seat tracks.

Default Just a Hair Bigger

Here is the add for the Seats from E bay. I compared them w/Corbeau.
They are just a hair bigger and the A7s are already a tight fit.
For the price $599 + $130 shipping they wouldn't be a bad deal
IF THEY FIT! What do you think?

I have been trying to find the post that helped get me heading in the
right direction but have not found the one I am looking for but did find a post with
something similar. The pictures in this post show the C3 tracks on the C5 seats.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...in-a-69-a.html
You should not cut up the floor in your car to install any seats thats not the best way to
go about it. Also when you get your C5 seats that will still have the C5 tracks on them,
the easiest way to get those tracks off and the C3 tracks on is to remove the bottom seat
foam and seat cover to get to the nuts on the C5 tracks, they are nutted up in the inside
of the frame. You can take the nuts off with out removing the foam and cover but it is
just easier to remove the foam.

Installing these seats on to C3 tracks is just to easy, If need be, if I get
time, I can pull one of my seats out and get some photos of it.

Default c5 seats as replacements

Seeing how I own a c5 and a c3 and have had both seats reupholstered let me enlighten you on the c5 verses the c3 for comfort and durability. I personally like the c3 seats better, because they have had new foam installed and feel way more comfortable. That being said the c5 is not without its faults. The power seat develops a problem with the bushing in it that causes the seat to slide back and forth about one quarter to three eighths of an inch every time you stop the car. It can be fixed, but it is time consuming and kind of pita. The bolsters on the c5 have hard fiberglass inside and when people slide in and out of the car they have a tendency to wear the leather down around the stitching making a big ugly wear spot that sticks out like a sore thumb. It also requires you to buy new skins at a 1000 a set to fix it. And there is a wire mesh inside the bottom cushion that has a 3-4 inch square pattern. It sits directly below the foam cushion. It acts like a french fry cutter over a period of time and cuts the foam into squares and eventually leaves you setting directly on the wires. The answer is to put a piece of canvas upholstery material between the foam and the wire to stop this. Something the general of motors should have done but did not. These items can be corrected all, but just because you bought c5 seats does not mean it will be smooth sailing with them. The reason I like the c3's better is I'm a big guy and the bolsters kind of squeeze me in a little. The c3's do not and are really comfortable when you replace the foam. Yes I had to rebuild the frame work on the c3 seats and reinforce them like the general of motors did not, and at the end of the day I really find them better for my c3.

Great reply Tiger Now you have me thinking? The only real complaint i have is the fact the the back rest is not adjustable on the stock C3 seat.

I think most people that ditch the C3 seats do it because the those
seats seam to allow your a$$ to slide around when your driving the car
aggressively around and through corners, this is why I got rid of mine I
could not enjoy driving my car when having to pay attention to the road
and sliding around in the seat (even with a seat belt on). So if your just
cruising around the C3 seats will be fine, but if you intend treat it like a
sports for then you wont be happy with the C3 seats.

P.S. I love driving the car now with the C5 seats, but after a few hours its
time to get out and stretch your legs because of a soar A$$.

Decided on the A4 Corbeau seats, direct bolt in and no messing around.
